The Office of Risk Management & Insurance offers AED Orientation and Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid classes. Each of these classes are offered on a regular basis and are open to all CSU faculty, staff, and students. You can view and register for classes at our Training Registration Portal. All CPR classes are held in the General Services Building in room 340.

Course Descriptions


AED Orientation

The AED Orientation session will provide attendees with an overview of how an AED works, where they are located on campus, why they are necessary, when they are needed, what you can do to help in an emergency, and more.

  • This class is offered free of charge
  • Special request classes can be held at any time and place (pending availability of proper A/V equipment
  • At least 4 people must be enrolled

Online AED Orientation

The Online AED Orientation session is nearly identical to the in-person, instructor-led AED orientation session.

  • Online, on-demand, self-paced, includes narration, in-session quizzes, etc.

AED Special Request Classes

Unlike CPR classes, AED Orientation classes can be held at any location (pending availability of proper A/V equipment).

  • This class is free of charge 
  • Special request classes can be offered most times and days of the week. 
  • Minimum enrollment per class = 4
  • Maximum enrollment = 12

CPR

The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, including but not limited to, bleeding wounds, sudden illness, stroke, head, neck, back injuries, environmental emergencies, and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies using CPR and an AED to help victims of any age – adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive an American Red Cross certification for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for two years.

  • All CPR classes are held in the General Services Building (RMI does not provide classes at other locations). 
  • Minimum enrollment per class = 4
  • Maximum enrollment = 12
  • The fee for this class is currently $50 per person. There are no discounts for groups and fees are the same for faculty, staff, and students. 
  • Please note that we cannot accept funding transfers from 53 accounts.

CPR/AED/1st Aid Special Request Classes

Due the the amount of logistical complications involved with teaching CPR classes, RMI does not provide this specific class outside of its home location and all classes must be held in the General Services Building. 

  • All CPR classes are held in the General Services Building (RMI does not provide classes at other locations)
  • Special request classes can be offered most times and days of the week (pending staff availability).
  • Minimum enrollment per class = 4
  • Maximum enrollment = 12
  • The fee for this class is currently $50 per person. There are no discounts for groups and fees are the same for faculty, staff, and students. 
  • Please note that we cannot accept funding transfers from 53 accounts.

Print materials are no longer provided. Though not required to attend the course, you can print or download the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Participant’s Manual.
