Symptom surveys are ideally administered to a group of employees with the goal of gaining additional insight regarding the problems employees experience in a job, their level of comfort performing a job or job task and will narrow down areas of the body in discomfort, whether it be due to poor job design or behavioral factors.
The results of the survey for the CSU ergonomics team will also help narrow down where focus and intervention is needed. The department should ideally be willing to make changes to the job recommended by the ergonomics team which would then warrant the same survey to be completed ‘post-changes’. This will then help determine the effectiveness of the intervention.
It is recommended that the CSU ergonomics office be contacted when there is a desire to administer the symptom survey. The ergonomics team will administer and answer questions, collect and analyze results, evaluate the work tasks determined to need further review and administer post-intervention surveys.
