Sally Alexander serves as Director, and Chief Risk Officer for Colorado State University. She manages the operations of the Office of Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) as well as leading institutional risk management efforts on campus. RMI operations include Workers Compensation, Temporary Modified Duty, Ergonomics, International Risk Management, self insurance reserves, insurance program, claims management, special events, contract review, certificates of insurance, training, AED/CPR Program, and Business Continuity.

She served on the Board of Directors of URMIA (2013-17) and co-chaired URMIA’s Governmental Regulatory Affairs Committee (GRAC 2013-17). She has co-presented at URMIA conferences as sessions about “Exporting Risk Management: Risk Assessment Workshop”, “Cost of Compliance”, and “Risk Management of Remote Research Sites.” In 2019 she was awarded CSU’s Office of International Programs “Distinguished Service Award” in recognition of outstanding contributions to the internationalization of Colorado State University. She co-authored with Mary Breighner, edited by Jeanne M. Drewes, the updated edition of Risk Management and Insurance Manual for Libraries published in 2021 by American Library Association. She is also the author of a series of children’s chapter books The Adventures of Caitlin and Rio.

Prior to joining CSU in 2008 she worked for Larimer County as Risk Manager, and prior to that she worked in Risk Management at the City and County of Denver. Originally from South Africa, she practiced law in the field of Insurance Law (both plaintiff and defendant work). She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa; an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa; a Masters in Environmental Policy and Management (MEPM) from the University of Denver, Colorado. She also has her Associates in Risk Management (ARM). She graduated May 2018 from CSU with her Master’s of Business Administration (MBA).

Frank Gonzales is the manager of both the ergonomics program and AED/CPR program for Colorado State University. Frank has a bachelor’s of science degree in health and exercise science and a master’s degree in education, both from Colorado State University.

His graduate studies in the Adult Education and Training program focused on ergonomics education for adult learners. Frank has extensive education in ergonomics through his undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as education through attendance at numerous ergonomics seminars and national conferences held throughout the country. Frank has several ergonomics certifications, most notably as a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) through the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE). Frank is a member of both the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) and the America Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).

Janelle Macapagal-Leal serves Risk Management by assisting with the Ergonomics program and AED/CPR program for Colorado State University. She holds a B.A degree in Management from American Military University as well as an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force. Prior to joining CSU, Janelle served as active duty in the United States Air Force- she continues her commitment in the Air Force Reserve.

Eric March serves Risk Management & Insurance by providing health and safety insight, managing liability with regards to infrastructure projects, assists with accident investigations and loss control concerns. Eric manages the Safety & Industrial Hygiene unit for Environmental Health Services. Eric has worked at CSU since 1997 and has 19 years of health and safety experience with several environmental and safety certifications.

Dan Piemontese is the Fit for Duty Program Coordinator at Colorado State University. He also assists the Workers’ Compensation manager, helping employees that are returning to work or to temporary modified duty following a workers’ compensation claim. He has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Health and Exercise Science from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and an Associate’s Degree of Physical Therapist Assistant from Penn State University in Hazleton, PA.

Dan has extensive experience treating patients in various physical therapy settings including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing care. He is expanding his knowledge base and seeking certifications in ergonomics and physical demands analyses. He is licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Colorado.

Joyce Pratt serves as the assistant to the Director of Risk Management & Insurance. She holds a B.S degree in Biology with a minor in Anatomy/ Neurobiology. Joyce primarily works with CSU and their community members to help with certificates of insurance, insurance renewals, special events, and vehicles. She comes to RMI from FWCB and has been on campus for over 30 years. She is a life-long learner, thoroughly enjoys being part of the CSU community and all it has to offer.  She loves Colorado, but her heart belongs to the beach and ocean.

Kenda Weigang is the Workers’ Compensation manager for Colorado State University. She holds a master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation with minor in business from the University of Northern Colorado. Kenda came to CSU in 2001 as a consultant for both the Ergonomics and Temporary Modified Duty programs, joining RMI full time in 2011. She has over 30 years of experience in the fields of rehabilitation, workers’ compensation and expert witness testimony for the various lines of insurance.

She was one of Pinnacol Assurance’s initial Return to Work coordinators, responsible for setting up the state-wide Return to Work Program for policy holders. Professionally, Kenda is recognized as a Certified Medical Case Manager and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
